John Cena To Produce Docuseries About WWE Developmental System WWE

John Cena is set to produce a docuseries about the WWE developmental system called ‘WWE: Recruits’ for Roku.

John Cena has been announced as a producer for a new show focused on the WWE developmental system.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Cena said:

“Millions around the world watch and dream of it, but only a handful of extraordinary individuals can become a WWE Superstar,”

“I am so excited to bring WWE: Recuits to The Roku Channel and look forward to giving viewers an exclusive all-access perspective on how the WWE turns the dreams of talented young people into a reality.”

With Endeavor purchasing controlling interest in WWE to merge it with UFC and create a new company, there has already been comment from the COO, Mark Shapiro.

Shapiro telling the Hollywood Reporter separately:

“from an original programming standpoint, we can launch entirely new franchises that puts the power of WME and the Endeavor flywheel behind all this,”

“Ultimate Fighter [an ESPN+ reality competition series] has become a winner for us, the Contender series has become a winner for us, but we expect in this new combination to launch non-scripted shows, docs and films, more fights, more events and and a mess of social media.”

It wasn’t specified whether or not referencing the “WWE developmental system” would follow existing NXT or NXT Level Up stars or if it would focus on entirely new ‘recruits’.
