Despite reports suggesting he was a “lock” for the show, John Cena has revealed in a recent interview that he is unlikely to be appearing at WrestleMania 37 this coming April.
John Cena is currently filming in Canada right now, and revealed to Sports Illustrated that it will be “mathematically impossible” for him to appear at WrestleMania 37 at Raymond James Stadium:
“It’s very difficult to say because I know it’s going to be disappointing for a lot of people… there is no mathematical way I can be at WrestleMania this year.”
John Cena said that he is in Vancouver filming the Peacemaker series for HBO Max until July, and said that given quarantine regulations, “there is no logistical way” for him to make the show:
“Currently, I’m in Vancouver shooting Peacemaker, the series for HBO Max,” Cena says. “Given the quarantine regulations, if I were to leave Canada, upon return I would have to quarantine for another two weeks. Essentially, that would shut production down. Strictly based on the letter of the law right now, there is no logistical way I can be there. We film now until July.”
This will certainly be a blow to WWE, who were hoping to have the 16-World Champion at WrestleMania this year, and will have to look elsewhere if they are hoping for a big star for the show.
