CM Punk Names WWE Star He Would Have Booked To Win Men’s Royal Rumble WWE

WWE’s CM Punk has revealed his vision for the winner of the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble which took place on February 1, 2025.

John Cena and Jey Uso would be the last two in the ring, with the sixteen-time World Champion being eliminated.

Uso has since appeared on the February 3, 2025, episode of WWE Raw to share his thoughts on his win, his singles run and more, as can be seen below this news story.

CM Punk would also enter the Royal Rumble as entrant #24, only to be eliminated by Logan Paul entering at #30.

Speaking on Good Guy/Bad Guy with Daniel Cormier & Chael Sonnen, Punk would lay out his vision for the WWE Royal Rumble.

Punk was asked whether he was disappointed that he didn’t win the Men’s Royal Rumble Match, revealing that he’s now more likely to suggest he lose as it gives him storytelling options, saying:

“I think early in my career, I would say yes. I think now, I’m actually more inclined to pitch me losing things. Because I think there is a broader story to tell. Oh, 100 percent.

“It’s all about the chase. It’s like — the most recent example I can give you is Cody [Rhodes] losing to Roman [Reigns] at WrestleMania 39. That was Cody’s time. He loses in the main event and it’s just like — man. And he spends the entire year as like a redemption arc and he chases the title and he wins it at [WrestleMania] 40.”

As for the booking of this the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble Match, Punk would share how he would have put it together, revealing that he and John Cena would have been the final two, stating:

“The Rumble didn’t go the way I would have booked it, so to speak.

“Since we’re just peeling back the curtain so much here: I would have had me and Cena as the last two guys. And I would’ve had Cena throw my ass over the top rope, you know? Because I think at this stage, I think losing is so much more valuable than winning.

“I’m almost afraid of me winning everything that I’ve ever dreamed of because what do I do then?”

While neither Punk or Cena were able to punch their tickets to WrestleMania at the Royal Rumble, this isn’t the end of the road for either men.

During the post-Royal Rumble press conference, Cena confirmed he would be in this year’s WWE Elimination Chamber match.

The February 3 episode of WWE Raw saw CM Punk qualify for a spot in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match on a night that also saw Liv Morgan qualify for the Women’s match at the upcoming PLE.

WWE Elimination Chamber takes place on March 1, 2025, with the winner of their respective titular matches facing a world champion at WrestleMania 41 in April.
