John Cena Works First WWE Match In America Since WrestleMania 39 WWE

John Cena worked his first WWE match in America since WrestleMania 39 at tonight’s September 15 SmackDown taping in Denver, Colorado.

Before John Cena actually hit the ring to wrestle though, he first finished out the actual televised angle that closed tonight’s SmackDown.

Making an appearance on the Grayson Waller Effect, Cena and Waller had a contemptuous exchange but the pair wouldn’t end up getting physical.

When Cena took off his shirt and hat, in apparently gesture that things could be headed in that direction, instead Jimmy Uso came out.

While Jimmy Uso laid into Cena, telling him no-one wanted him there, he didn’t get a chance to brawl with Cena either.

Jimmy was then interrupted by Solo Sikoa with Paul Heyman, with Heyman not really knowing what was about to happen as he had seemingly been losing control of Sikoa.

With Solo entering the ring and squaring up against John Cena, Jimmy taunted Cena behind Solo’s back.

Solo briefly turned around and looked as though he was going to choke out Jimmy, but instead, attacked Cena.

When Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa were waging a beat down on John Cena, out ran AJ Styles for the save as the brawl continued with Grayson Waller still seated in his host chair watching on.

With Heyman shouting, “Save Jimmy,” Solo rescued Uso from the ring before more damage could be done as SmackDown came to a close.

However the fans in attendance at SmackDown in Denver were treated to a big post-show dark match featuring AJ Styles and John Cena taking on Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa.

In the end, AJ Styles and John Cena would pick up the victory after Cena pinned Jimmy Uso for the win.

This was Cena’s first match in the US since WrestleMania 39 in April (obviously not appearing his role as special guest referee for LA Knight vs The Miz at Fastlane).

Cena did work at WWE Superstar Spectacle in India a week ago, as he and Seth Rollins teamed up to beat Imperium’s Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci.
