After SmackDown went off the air, John Cena wrestled a 6-man tag team match, also featuring Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
Before Friday’s show, Keith Lee defeated Austin Theory in singles action, and Dakota Kai picked up a victory over Aliyah. Following these dark matches, WWE Warrior Award recipient Titus O’Neil welcomed the crowd to SmackDown before the show officially started.
After SmackDown went off the air, John Cena once again teamed with Rey and Dominik Mysterio to do battle with Roman Reigns and The Usos in six man action.
Similar to his other dark matches, the final moments of this contest saw Cena nail Reigns with the Attitude Adjustment before pinning an Uso.
Despite being in the building for the untelevised match, John Cena didn’t feature live on this week’s episode of SmackDown. He challenges Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam on August 21.
Bobby Lashley is set to defend his WWE Title against Goldberg at the Biggest Party of the Summer. A segment involving the WWE Champion has been announced for next week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.
