John Cena Reveals ‘Most Stupid Decision’ Of WWE Career WWE

John Cena has revealed what he considers to be the most stupid decision that he ever made in his WWE career.

The Undisputed WWE Champion is in his retirement year, with his final match reportedly set to take place in December 2025.

Having signed his first contract in 2001, Cena has now revealed the moment that he considers to be his “most stupid decision”.

The revelation was made at the Philadelphia Fan Expo, where the WWE star reflected on an “If Cena Wins, We Riot” sign that was brought to the event.

Cena would look back at his ECW One Night Stand match in 2006, which saw him face Rob Van Dam at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

Speaking about the reception he received from the fans at the WWE-produced event, Cena stated:

“The audience was pretty bad. The event started at about seven o’clock, and we weren’t on until last, and at around seven, they were so audibly chanting ‘F-You Cena,’ so I know when I went out at ten o’clock, it was going to be pretty gnarly.

“So, we get out there and I have a wrestling match with my T-shirt before I have a wrestling match with Rob, and I look at the sign and I heard the crowd and I would never do this again, it was the most stupid decision of my life, but I told Rob, “Hey, let’s go out into the audience.”

Cena would reveal that, despite the hostility of the fans, their verbal abuse didn’t turn physical after his self-confessed questionable choice, going on to say:

“I just wanted to see what would happen. Thank you everyone in the Hammerstein Ballroom for being professional being great fans and letting me know how you feel here (points at head) and not letting me know how you feel here (gestures with a closed fist) cos I thought I was gonna get my ass kicked but everybody was real nice.”

“That’s a story I’ve never told and it’s something I’m like “Hey, man, let’s just go out and see what the audience is all about.” What a stupid choice. I should never have done that, but everyone treated me with kindness.”
