AEW’s Jim Ross has shared his honest thoughts on John Cena’s heel run so far, predicting the crowd reactions for Cena as this storyline continues.
John Cena has made several TV appearances since attacking Cody Rhodes at Elimination Chamber, appearing on Raw in Belgium, Scotland and England during WWE’s European tour.
During his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross was asked how he thinks fan reactions to Cena will change when he appears in the US as a heel.
Noting that he has been enjoying Cena’s heel run, JR responded:
“It might be even hotter, I’m not sure but that’s my guess. We’ll see how it all works out, but they’ve done a nice job at maintaining the heat.
“I think we’ll just get a continuation of what the fans are believing and feeling, and that is that Cena is a heel. It’s new, it’s fresh, it’s a different deal, so have at it.
“I think it’s good, freshening things up is always a good thing. We’re seeing that right now. They’re going with this freshened up John Cena, a new coat of paint, shall we say, but it’s pretty cool. I like it.”
John Cena will appear on the April 18 SmackDown episode in Las Vegas, one day before WrestleMania 41 begins.
Cena will compete on WrestleMania 41 Night 2 on April 20, challenging for Cody Rhodes’ WWE Championship.
