‘They Didn’t Clue Us In’: WWE Star Addresses Involvement In John Cena Heel Turn

A WWE name has addressed being involved with John Cena’s heel turn, stating that he wasn’t told what was going to happen ahead of time.

John Cena notably turned to the dark side at the Elimination Chamber 2025 event, attacking Cody Rhodes alongside The Rock and Travis Scott.

With WWE Unreal reality series alluding to this, Wade Barrett has confirmed that the commentary team were not clued in ahead of time about what was going to happen in this major segment.

Speaking with The Sportster, Barrett said:

“I would say that was kind of an out of body experience. To give you a little behind the scenes, they didn’t clue us in on this.

“I did not know that what you saw happening on TV was going to happen, nor did Michael Cole.

“We were caught by surprise, what you heard coming from us was our legit reaction, what we call a shoot reaction in wrestling, because this was thrown at us by surprise, no prep.

“I was just saying what I was feeling, and I think echoing what the people in that arena, and probably people watching on TV, were feeling too.

“I was in ultimate fanboy mode, completely buying into this aura of this amazing company, WWE. Yeah, it was a wild time.”
