John Cena WWE Retirement Match Card Placement Major Update

John Cena WWE Retirement Match Card Placement Major Update WWE

A major update has emerged regarding the card placement for John Cena’s retirement match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

With the Cena vs GUNTHER match set to take place tomorrow, a rumor started earlier this week that their match was planned to open the show, despite the presumption that it would be the main event and last match that takes place on the night.

John Cena himself has now addressed this rumor, stating that the current plan is for his match to go on last.

On the Pat McAfee Show, he said:

“I was on Jimmy Kimmel and I said I’m ending the show. I said I normally go to bed early but I’m gonna have to stay up late for this one. I guess people didn’t read between the tea leaves.

“We’re last. I don’t know how the rumor started. I think some folks with credibility like to kick a hornets’ nest every once in a while and get people chattering.

“I understand, we’re in the age of information, so it’s gonna keep my attention – ‘You’re not last?!’ Sure, that’ll keep my attention for a few hot clicks.

“I don’t even know how that started. It’s difficult to conceptualize that. Again, I don’t make the menu, and if I show up tomorrow and they want me to go on first, that’s what I’m gonna do. But we are last at this point.”

Also set for SNME is WWE Champion Cody Rhodes vs NXT Champion Oba Femi, Bayley vs Sol Ruca, and World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles & Dragon Lee vs Je’Von Evans & Leon Slater.

It was Cena himself who put forward the idea of the WWE vs NXT theme for the rest of the matches on his final show.
