Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that John Cena is being discussed for a big WWE return in July.
WWE announced yesterday that the July 16 episode of SmackDown will be the start of the company returning to touring, and Meltzer notes that John Cena has been “discussed” for a return at the show.
It has long been rumoured that fans coming back could facilitate the returns of Becky Lynch, John Cena and Brock Lesnar, all of whom have missed the majority of the pandemic era wrestling.
As of right now, there is no word on if WWE is hoping to have John Cena just back for the SmackDown show on July 16, or if the company is planning a longer run for the former champion, possibly culminating in a SummerSlam match the following month.
