John Cena has been called out by a fellow WWE star, questioning whether the retiring champion would be up for a banger of a match.

The current Undisputed WWE Champion is over halfway through his retirement year, with his final match set to take place in mid-December.

While John Cena has a limited number of appearances between now and December, Sheamus has thrown his name into the hat as a potential contender.

Speaking on the Cheap Heat Podcast with Peter Rosenberg, Sheamus suggested that there’s a question mark over whether John Cena would be up to the challenge, saying:

“I’ll go in there with anybody. I don’t care who it is. The question is, will John Cena want to get in there with me?

“Does he want to put his body through that? Does he want to like, take kind of an easier route with some of the wrestlers, like less physical matches?

“Or does he want to get in there with the King of Bangers, Sheamus? That is the question you would have to ask Cena.”

John Cena has previously stated that WWE fans will ‘dictate direction‘ of the remaining months of his retirement run.

Sheamus last faced John Cena in televised singles action in 2015, with the Celtic Warrior suffering a loss on the September 14 episode of WWE Raw.
