John Cena’s final WWE opponent of his retirement tour has reportedly been revealed ahead of Saturday Night’s Main Event.
John Cena’s retirement tour kicked off back on January 6 at the WWE Raw Netflix premiere in Los Angeles, with him announcing at Money In The Bank 2024 that he would retire at the end of 2025.
Cena is set to face off against AJ Styles one final time at WWE Crown Jewel in Perth, Australia this weekend, with him only set for four more WWE appearances following that match before his retirement.
Cena’s final match will take place in Washington DC on December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event, with speculation surrounding who his final opponent may end up being.
In an update from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer (subscription required), WWE has now chosen Cena’s final opponent for Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Cena will reportedly face off against Gunther on the show, with a number of WWE sources confirming to Meltzer that Cena vs. Gunther is listed internally for the show, with that being the only match listed so far.
Two sources also confirmed to Meltzer that the latest plan is for a tournament to be announced, potentially on air by Triple H, with a number of top names vying to be Cena’s final opponent.
With that said, sources told Meltzer that Gunther was the person chosen for the match, however the tournament may reach it’s conclusion.
