The Thunderdome era of WWE television saw a lot of bizarre and unique matches that have not appeared in WWE before or after.
One of the most infamous came at WrestleMania Backlash in 2021, when Damian Priest battled The Miz in a Lumberjack match.
The catch? All of the lumberjacks would be zombies in an advertisement for Dave Bautista’s ‘Army of the Dead’ movie.
John Morrison, who was at ringside for the match, recently spoke about it to the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, where he explained Damian Priest’s hilarious reaction to being told about the Zombie lumberjacks.
He said:
“I heard about the match and told Damian Priest what we’re doing. He walked over to The Miz and said, “what the f**k is John talking about, some weird s**t? Like, he said, we are having a zombie lumberjack match; is he just f**king with me or what?”
Despite the reputation that the match has gone on to acquire, Morrison explained how he actually enjoyed being a part of the match, saying:
“To be honest, I loved it, it’s so weird, and it did not make any sense.
“Then again, wrestling doesn’t have to make sense. So we both got eaten by zombies and then just came back the week after.”
Morrison was released by WWE in November 2021, and has since gone on to make appearances for many different companies under many different names.
