John Morrison made his return to WWE in January of 2020 by opening a door backstage. Not the most exciting way to return, and it wasn’t how he expected to come back.
Speaking with TV Insider, Morrison said that his return didn’t go as he expected, but things have worked out since. He said:
“In wrestling, things never really go the way you expect. I was really excited to come back and work with Miz. In the Chronicle documentary that talks about my return, Dolph Ziggler is walking toward me while cameras are following. All I did for my debut was open the door and say, ‘I’m sorry. Miz doesn’t feel like talking right now.’ Ziggler gives me a high five after and says, ‘Sweet debut bro.’ Did that go how I expected? No. Everybody thinks of ideas on the basis they see themselves as main event guys. I certainly do. But since then have things gone the way I liked? Definitely, yes.”
John Morrison has paired with The Miz since his return, winning the SmackDown Tag Team Championship in February of 2020.
Morrison left WWE in 2011, going on to elevate himself as a main eventer in promotions like Lucha Underground and IMPACT.
