An update has emerged on the possibility of Johnny Gargano joining AEW, following Gargano’s announcement that he’s taking bookings again.
Following Gargano’s WWE contract expiring in December 2021, the former NXT Champion noted that he was taking a break from wrestling while he and Candice LeRae prepared for the birth of their son.
Gargano and LeRae welcomed Quill into the world on February 17, and Johnny Wrestling has since shared contact information for potential wrestling appearances.
This has fuelled speculation that Gargano could be AEW-bound, with the popular star reportedly ‘heavily considering‘ signing with AEW after his WWE departure.
Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Gargano is not currently expected to debut for the promotion in the next month or so. Meltzer noted that Jeff Hardy and Shane Strickland are both set join the promotion relatively soon.
Hardy had previously told YouTuber Jared Myers, that he was going to AEW, but later tweeted that nothing is official. Fightful had reported that ‘Sw3rve The Realest’ Shane Strickland was expected to sign with AEW.
The former NXT Champion has discussed the future of his ‘Johnny Wrestling’ character, which you can read about at this link.
