Johnny Gargano Breaks Silence Following DIY WWE SmackDown Heel Turn

Johnny Gargano Breaks Silence Following DIY WWE SmackDown Heel Turn WWE

DIY’s Johnny Gargano has broken his silence following his shock heel turn on last night’s WWE SmackDown (December 6).

In recent weeks Tommaso Ciampa has become more and more unhinged, displaying behavior reminiscent of his days as The Blackheart in WWE NXT.

With Motor City Machine Guns’ WWE Tag Team Championship win being the final straw, Ciampa has been hell bent on regaining the titles ever since, using more aggressive tactics than his partner Johnny Gargano was seemingly comfortable with.

Heading into SmackDown it was advertised that The Street Profits would be facing MCMG, however, both Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins were attacked backstage ahead of the match, leaving an open spot for DIY to take their place at Gargano’s request.

Receiving the blessing of real-life friend Alex Shelley to fill the Profits’ spot, DIY went into the match still hanging by a thread, with many fans anticipating a split between Gargano and Ciampa.

What instead came was a huge swerve as Gargano turned heel along with Ciampa, as the pair reclaimed their titles from MCMG as a result of a Gargano low-blow and a Meet in the Middle on Sabin.

Following the result Gargano posted a selfie of himself and Ciampa celebrating their title win, writing:

We told you.. Whatever it takes.

2x WWE Tag Team Champions.

The following day Gargano addressed his heel turn in greater detail, thanking Shelley for the title shot alongside a clip of the backstage segment before the match.

Gargano wrote:

You can say a lot of things about me but a liar I am not..

I kept my promise.. you didn’t have to worry about Tommaso.

PS: Thank you for the title match, Alex.

Ciampa has yet to comment publicly since DIY captured the WWE Tag Team Championships, only retweeting Gargano’s initial Twitter post after their win.
