Johnny Gargano Says FTR & The Young Bucks Are ‘Once In A Generation Tag Teams’ AEW

Johnny Gargano departed WWE back in December 2021 following his contract with the company expiring, and him taking time away to be with his son, Quill.

Gargano had been on NXT since 2016, where he and Tommaso Ciampa became a tag team known as ‘DIY’.

The duo went on to capture the NXT Tag Team Championship at NXT Takeover: Toronto later that year, capturing the titles in what is considered one of the greatest tag team matches of all-time against The Revival, now known as FTR.

Gargano recently appeared on Good Karma Wrestling, where he spoke about his time in DIY and his matches with The Revival. Gargano went on to praise FTR, as well as AEW World Tag Team Champions the Young Bucks, as ‘once in a generation’ tag teams.

He said:

“It’s awesome to see, man, and it’s something that I could’ve told you a long, long time ago. FTR, Revival, whatever you want to call them, they’ve been one of the best tag teams for a very, very, very, very, very long time, and me and Tommaso were lucky enough to have that series with them where we did Takeover: Brooklyn and Takeover: Toronto and have those tag team matches with those two guys because, for my money, they are the best tag team in the world currently. And I always, I said for a very, very, long time and I still do believe this, FTR and Young Bucks are just once in a generation tag teams.”

FTR have had arguably the run of their careers in 2022, as they currently reign as the AAA, ROH and IWGP Tag Team Championships. FTR are set to defend their ROH Tag Team Championship in a rematch with the Briscoes at Death Before Dishonor.
