Johnny Gargano is currently a free agent, after letting his WWE contract expire on December 10. After his final appearance for the company, on the December 7 edition of NXT, Gargano received a send-off from the likes of Tommaso Ciampa and Shawn Michaels.
As per Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Gargano is ‘heavily considering’ joining AEW. Noting that things Gargano has said both publicly and privately have indicated that he’s thinking about becoming All Elite, Meltzer said:
“Just things he’s said both publicly and privately, I mean I know he’s heavily considering going to AEW, put it that way,”
As of writing, it is unknown if Gargano has received a contract offer from AEW, or if he’s even been approached by the company.
The former NXT Champion has noted that he now plans to take a break from wrestling as he and Candice LeRae prepare to welcome their first child into the world.
Gargano has recently talked about certain AEW wrestlers on his recent Twitch streams, discussing his and Adam Cole’s nixed WWE project, and stating that Kenny Omega is one of his dream opponents.
Discussing his NXT rivalry with Tommaso Ciampa, Gargano has also teased the continuation of this iconic feud ‘somewhere’
Kyle O’Reilly, who also let his WWE NXT contract expire earlier this month, debuted for AEW at Dynamite: Holiday Bash, reuniting with Adam Cole and Bobby Fish.
We will continue to provide updates on Gargano’s status as they become available.
