Johnny Gargano To Miss NXT TakeOver: War Games

Johnny Gargano To Miss NXT TakeOver: War Games

Johnny Gargano hasn’t been seen on NXT since he was attacked by Finn Balor.  Everyone assumed the attack was to set up a match between Gargano and Balor at NXT TakeOver: War Games.

It may very well have been the plan, but last night it was announced Matt Riddle will be facing Finn Balor instead.  Dominik Dijakovic will take Riddle’s place in the War Games match.

However, it appears this may have all happened because Johnny Gargano is injured and not clear to compete.  Each week, Matt Camp releases an NXT Injury Report on WWE’s YouTube channel.

Usually, these reports are considered kayfabe and don’t contain a lot of information.  This week might be a bit different.

It was reported that Johnny Gargano has suffered a cervical strain and was reported to miss NXT TakeOver: War Games and Survivor Series.  The injury was said to have happened during the 1916 delivered by Balor on the ramp.

It’s a real shame this injury has happened at this time.  Gargano is just a valuable member of the NXT roster and it appeared NXT TakeOver was going to have the full roster available.

NXT seems to keep losing people at key times for big shows.  Triple H and his crew have been able to salvage the matches and make some incredible plan b’s.

When they lost Tommaso Ciampa, Adam Cole vs. Johnny Gargano more than delivered.  I’m sure Riddle vs. Balor will be fantastic, but it appears they are going to have to find a 4th member for the War Games match.

It will be interesting to see who fills the role.  Of course, this could all be a work and Gargano could be the 4th member.

However, these injury reports usually say day to day or don’t provide a timeline for injury.  With Camp specifically stating that Gargano will be out through Survivor Series weekend, this one feels a little more likely to not be storyline.
