There were lots of exciting angles people were looking forward to coming into NXT TakeOver: Portland. Would the Broserweights pull off the upset and become the new Tag Team Champions? They would.
Would Charlotte Flair show up and declare herself the challenger for Rhea Ripley’s NXT Women’s Champion. Yes, she would.
Could Adam Cole hang on to the title or would Tommaso Ciampa reclaim Goldie? Well, Adam Cole is still the NXT Champion, but not without a little help from an unexpected place.
1! 2! 3!…..
4? 5? 6?….@NXTCiampa has it, but there's no ref to count it!!!#NXTTakeOver #NXTChampionship pic.twitter.com/mxGxaG7QIQ

At the end of the match, Undisputed Era got involved in the main event. Despite a 4 on 1 number’s advantage, Tommaso Ciampa was able to hit a fairy tale ending and got a 3 count and more.
However, the ref had been taken out accidentally and wasn’t there to count the pin. Adam Cole would go on to hit 3 Superkicks and a last shot, but Ciampa still kicked out.
That’s when Johnny Gargano made his way out to the ring. It looked like Gargano was there to encourage his former partner.

However, that’s not what happened. Gargano picked up the NXT Title and smacked Ciampa on his head. Cole got the win and retained his title.
It looks like we are getting yet another chapter in the saga of Gargano/Ciampa. Maybe we’ll finally get the closure we were all hoping for.
But, it is past it’s prime? Only time we’ll tell.
