Jon Moxley’s IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door event has been revealed.
Moxley has reigned as the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion since NJPW’s Windy City Riot show, where he defeated Tetsuya Naito to capture the title for the first time in his career.
Moxley has defended the title against Powerhouse Hobbs on AEW Dynamite, as well as facing Konosuke Takeshita in an Eliminator match at AEW Double or Nothing.
Today, Moxley wrestled at NJPW’s Dominion pay-per-view, where he made the latest successful defence of his title against EVIL.
Following the match, Moxley was confronted by Naito, where the former champion challenged Moxley to a match for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Forbidden Door.
AEW recently announced numerous other title matches for Forbidden Door, including Swerve Strickland defending the AEW World Championship against Will Ospreay, Toni Storm defending the AEW Women’s World Championship against Mina Shirakawa and TBS Champion Mercedes Mone facing NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer in a title vs. title match.
