WrestleTalk is sorry to learn that veteran wrestler Jose Lothario has passed away at the age of 83.
Lothario was once of the greats of the Texas wrestling scene in the 70s, drawing major houses for his matches against all-timers Harley Race, Terry Funk and Jack Brisco.
Jose was better known to WWE fans as the manager of Shawn Michaels when he achieved his “boyhood dream” in 1996.

Lothario trained Michaels and got him his start in Mid South. WWE brought him in to coach Michaels for his Iron Man Match with Bret Hart at WrestleMania XII and let him stick around for the duration of Shawn’s first title run.
He was involved in the famous finish of Michaels’ title loss to Sycho Sid at Survivor Series ’96, where Sid hit Lothario with a video camera causing him to have a “heart attack”, distracting Shawn and allowing Sid to beat him with a powerbomb.
We would like to wish Lothario’s family and friends our condolences at this difficult time.
