Popular Star Confirms Free Agency, Wants To Face Current AEW Champion AEW

Former IWGP Women’s Champion KAIRI has confirmed that she’s currently a free agent, and has named several top names as dream opponents.

WWE fans will recognise KAIRI as former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion ‘Kairi Sane’, who, after proving herself in Japan, gained popularity while wrestling for the NXT, SmackDown and Raw WWE brands.

After officially leaving WWE in December 2021, KAIRI returned to Stardom and also established herself as a top star in NJPW’s women’s division, becoming the inaugural IWGP Women’s Champion in November 2022.

After dropping the gold to Mercedes Mone at Battle in the Valley, many have wondered what’s next for the Pirate Princess.

Speaking with Steve Fall for WrestlingNews.co, KAIRI (via her interpreter) confirmed that she doesn’t have an exclusive deal with Stardom or NJPW:

“She’s a free agent. She would like to go anywhere possible and she would like to go back to the US. She’s a free agent.”

Naming WWE and AEW stars she wants to share the ring with, KAIRI said:

“Paige (Saraya), Toni Storm, Jamie Hayter, Asuka, IYO SKY, Bayley, Shayna Baszler, everyone.”

When asked specifically about potentially working with Jamie Hayter, KAIRI said “Yes, I hope so.”

Teasing this clash some more, when asked what’s next for her, KAIRI noted:

“She’s currently not holding any title belt so perhaps maybe it’s time to go challenge for another title belt, sometime soon.”

Jamie Hayter currently holds the AEW Women’s Championship, which she won from Toni Storm at the November 2022 Full Gear pay-per-view.

She most recently defended the gold at AEW Revolution, defeating Saraya and Ruby Soho in a three-way bout to retain her gold.
