A former WWE star has revealed the reason behind leaving the company.
In October 2020, KAIRI announced that she had started working as an ambassador and trainer for WWE’s branch in her native Japan. After a year in the role, the former Kairi Sane left the company after her contract expired.
Speaking on the Ten Count with Steve Fall of Wrestling News, the former IWGP Women’s Champion revealed the reason why she returned to Japan after taking the WWE ambassador role. She said via her interpreter:
“Hi, so you know she was actually in perfect condition, she was perfectly fine. But the reason she got back was because she got married.”
At the time, there were rumors that an injury led to KAIRI’s departure from the company. However, the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion dismissed those rumors.
In February 2022, Sane made her return to STARDOM as a part-time star. She then defeated Mayu Iwatani for the IWGP Women’s Championship at NJPW x STARDOM Historic X-Over in November.
As previously reported, KAIRI confirmed that she is now officially a free agent and without a contract to any promotion.
