A huge update has emerged regarding the status of recently-returned WWE star Karl Anderson in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Anderson is currently the NEVER Openweight Champion for NJPW, despite being contracted to WWE.
He will defend the title against Hikuelo of NJPW this Wednesday, December 14.
According to a report by PWInsider, that will not be Anderson’s final appearance for the promotion.
The report states that Anderson is also scheduled to wrestle on January 4, 2023 at NJPW’s annual Wrestle Kingdom event.
In doing so, Anderson will become the first talent to wrestle at Wrestle Kingdom while also being contracted to WWE.
According to the report, Anderson was part of NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom plans long before he and Gallows returned to WWE.
Luckily the two sides were able to come to an agreement so as not to interfere with NJPW’s creative plans.
It is expected that Anderson will have a “strong role” in the event, with it also being believed that he will compete in a singles match on the show.
This comes after the news came out that Sasha Banks (Mercedes Varnado) is set to appear on the show, in a booking reportedly not set up through WWE.
