Former WWE star Killer Kross (fka Karrion Kross) has revealed the legitimate backstage reaction to his worked-shoot promo after WrestleMania 41, recalling a conversation with Triple H.
Kross became the talk of the wrestling world following WrestleMania 41, after cutting a scathing promo during Sam Roberts and Megan Morant’s WrestleMania after show.
Karrion Kross blurred the lines between work and shoot with this promo, referencing his lack of opportunities and previous release, arguing that being passionate about wrestling “doesn’t mean s**t” anymore, and concluding with the following message for the “guy in the suite and tie in the truck”:
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Kross confirmed that this was a worked shoot promo – planned out ahead of time and made to look unscripted – saying:
As I said, worked, but obviously based off of real things. That’s like the fine line of pro-wrestling that makes those connections, right? That resonates with people.

Noting that he heard the next night while at the Raw taping that Creative was “not happy” and that there was “heat” surrounding the promo, Kross continued:
“So we do that, everybody loved it, we leave. The next day was weird at Raw. So aside from everything I’ve talked about, I get a phone call from somebody in Talent Relations. He says Creative is not happy, there’s heat, they’re pissed.
“I was like, well I apologize about that, let me go take care of that right now. I have a great relationship with them, they’re right across the hall.
“I said, dude, this is my fault, let me take care of it, no problem. I go across the hall, I speak with some of the writers, I explain everything, they’re like ‘Man, we don’t know what you’re talking about.’
“I was like ‘What’s going on here?’ I walk around the building and everyone’s saying hello, everything feels fine.”

Kross said that he later learned that it was specifically Triple H who wasn’t happy about the situation.
Noting that it was a misunderstanding, and that Triple H was “super cool” once they cleared the air, Kross said:
“I eventually did speak with Hunter, cleared the air with him. It’s a massive company with a lot of different departments, and not all of them are in lockstep with communication.
“He was super cool about it once we spoke to him, he understood where I was coming from, and what I was trying to do.”
