Professional Wrestling Term Added To Merriam-Webster Dictionary WWE

Find out what pro wrestling term has gained mainstream recognition to the point that it has now been added to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.

Merriam-Webster has announced their list of latest inclusions for September 2023, including at least one that is very familiar to professional wrestling fans.

The term ‘kayfabe’ has been officially added to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, defined as:

“kayfabe noun

“1 : the tacit agreement between professional wrestlers and their fans to pretend that overtly staged wrestling events, stories, characters, etc., are genuine;

“broadly: tacit agreement to behave as if something is real, sincere, or genuine when it is not

“2 : the playacting involved in maintaining kayfabe”

Another term added this month is also familiar to wrestling fans since it is a favorite of AEW World Champion MJF.

The word ‘mid’ was also added, defined as ‘adjective … 2 informal : neither very good nor very bad : so-so, meh’.

Also, ‘jorts’ was included in the newest additions list, defined as the typical John Cena related usage of meaning jean shorts.
