Triple H Told Kayla Braxton ‘The Door Is Always Open’ For A WWE Return

Having exited WWE back in 2024, Kayla Braxton has revealed that Triple H told her that the door for a potential return is “always open”.

The former Kayla Braxton left WWE, having served as a backstage interviewer, along with other roles, since 2016, revealing that she felt her “creativity was stifled“.

Now forging her own career under her real name of Kayla Becker, the former WWE name appeared on TMZ Inside The Ring, where she was asked about a potential return, saying:

“When I left, Triple H did say that to me. He said, “The door is always open here”, which is such a nice thing to hear from your boss when you’re the one walking away.

“I don’t think I ever see myself going back in the same capacity. When I left, I just hoped like I can go away, kinda create my own brand for myself. It takes time, because I don’t want to always be, not that there’s anything wrong with it, but I didn’t want to always be WWE’s Kayla Braxton, cos I had so much more I wanted to do

“And, in WWE, it’s very difficult to take on other projects, whether it be time or just because all the red tape. So, I’m gonna go away for a few years and really build up Kayla Becker and see what I can do. 

“Then, maybe come back in a segment as Kayla Becker. Maybe I come one day and take Paul’s (Heyman) job for a month and now I’m the GM or the manager for whoever he’s managing at the time. Who knows? We’ll see.”

Speaking further on a potential return to WWE, Becker said:

“I want to wait a little bit. They may never actually want me back, who knows? But if they ever did, I’d want it to be a few years and I’m really established outside so I can come back and have more to show.”

Heyman and Braxton served as co-hosts on Talking Smack, with their relationship being among the highlights of the show. Speaking after her WWE departure, Braxton opened up about working with the veteran figure.

Becker previously revealed that she turned down a commentary role in WWE, making it clear that it was a step she didn’t want to take.

For her final WWE SmackDown show, a number of stars featured in a video saying goodbye to the star, with plenty of lighthearted mockery at the departing name.

An Important Link To The Audience At Home

It’s sometimes easy to overlook the role that the backstage interviewer plays on WWE television. Often, on a surface level, they appear to just be there to lead into a promo, altercation or some other moment that, perhaps, doesn’t actually need anyone else present.

Unlike an in-ring promo, a backstage interview gives an opportunity for a star to express thoughts, responding to a question presented to them by the interviewer. The questions may occasionally seem inconsequential to what is being said, but when done well, they can propel a story forward, giving the audience a further reason to care about whatever story is being told in that moment.

For some interviewers, they build relationships with particular stars, with fans eager to see the pairing. Braxton had Paul Heyman, while Cathy Kelley can rely on Rhea Ripley, as just two examples.

The backstage interviewer can also bring an emotional heart to proceedings, opening the star up to a dramatic direction that may otherwise not be apparent. Arguably, this was one of the strengths that Renee Paquette, previously Renee Young in WWE, has brought to her role in AEW.

A good backstage interviewer gives a purpose to the discussion, offering the viewer an opportunity to feel more involved in what they’re seeing, perhaps asking the very question they’d ask in such an environment.
