Kenny Omega Addresses AEW Plans Following NJPW Wrestle Dynasty Return Match Win

Kenny Omega has addressed what’s next for him in AEW following his in-ring return at NJPW Wrestle Dynasty.

At last night’s Wrestle Dynasty event, stars from NJPW, AEW, ROH, STARDOM and CMLL collided in a crossover event that provided many memorable moments.

While the likes The Young Bucks, The Sons of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) and Mercedes Mone had successful nights, there was perhaps nobody that stole the spotlight as much as Kenny Omega, returning to the ring for the first time in over a year at a venue synonymous with so many of his best moments.

In front of a packed Tokyo Dome, Omega successfully defeated NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion Gabe Kidd after over 30 minutes of action.

After the match AEW’s cameras caught up with a bloody Omega in a digital exclusive, in which he answered the burning question of ‘what’s next?’:

Setting his sights on “taking back everything he lost” Omega said:

“You’re probably wondering after that, what’s next? ‘Kenny, you back?’ What do you think? Yeah, I’m back and if you’re wondering what’s next, it’s time to take back everything I lost. It’s time to rebuild. It’s time to prove what I’ve proven time and time and time again, not just this company, this entire business belongs to Kenny Omega.

“When I come back to AEW, what’s next for Kenny Omega? It’s time to prove to the world once again that wrestling is Kenny Omega. AEW is Kenny Omega, whether you like it or not. People thought that I just disappeared off the face of the planet, that I haven’t been paying attention, I haven’t been watching. I watch everything and all I’ve seen are a lot of frauds and wannabes.

“There is only one God of professional wrestling. In place of that God, there’s placeholders. There are flashes in the pans, there are flavors of the month, but there’s truly only one God, and he’s returning.”

Omega recently made his AEW return at Worlds End 2024, when he gifted the Continental Championship to Kazuchika Okada after The Rainmaker won the Continental Classic, a moment that seemingly teased a future bout between the two.
