AEW Champion Kenny Omega has shed more light on the rules of the exploding barbed wire death match ahead of AEW Revolution.
Since Omega asked for this shocking stipulation last month, fans have wondered what the actual rules of the match will be. While some can remember older incarnations of the match type, those unfamiliar with deathmatch wrestling have been left to speculate the rules.
Omega has revealed more about the AEW Championship match set for AEW Revolution. Sharing a sketch on Twitter, Omega explained that 3 sides of the ring will be wrapped in barbed wire.
Illustrating the three explosive barbed wire elements surrounding the ring, Omega noted that the explosives will detonate after 30 minutes, no matter what.
Explaining that contact with barbed wire also results in detonation, Omega tweeted these rules (and sketch of Jon Moxley):
THE RULES:
-3 sides of the ring ropes wrapped in barbed wire.
-contact with barbed wire triggers explosives on corresponding side.
-‘Triple Hell’ (3 zones on the floor wired to explosives)
-30 minute countdown timer until all explosives in and around the ring detonate. pic.twitter.com/vK1cZjSfHF

Jon Moxley had an impressive February. Between retaining his IWGP US Championship against KENTA and defeating Davey Boy Smith Jr at Bloodsport 5, Moxley also found the time to compete on AEW Dark and Dynamite.
Kenny Omega hasn’t wrestled since defeating Moxley and Lance Archer alongside KENTA at the beginning of February. Since Omega defeated Moxley for the AEW Championship last December, many fans have been highly anticipating this rematch.
AEW Revolution takes place on Sunday night. Also scheduled is a contract signing featuring a “major, major star“.
