Kenny Omega is speaking about how he is hoping to tell stories in a very different way, including a fresh take on the ‘comeback’ story.
While he has just come back, Kenny Omega already has an impressive record of 2-0 after tonight’s win over Will Ospreay and Aussie Open on AEW Dynamite.
However don’t expect to only see a dominant Omega upon his return, as he recently revealed his goals for telling a compelling comeback story.
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Kenny Omega described what he is hoping to achieve with telling the comeback story in a unique and fresh way.
A perpetual artist, Omega described his goals for the coming months in a fascinating way, saying:
“I want to express myself in a multitude of ways, and tell my stories in a very different way. After suffering through so much rehab, and being at a stage where I wasn’t sure if I could ever come back, I’m now being proud of where I am.
“The standard thing to do after climbing Mount Everest is to celebrate. I felt like coming back to the ring was cause for celebration, but I didn’t want to come back in a traditional way.
“My goal is to give a unique take on what a comeback story can look like. It’s something new for me, it’s something that isn’t really being represented on our shows, and it’s a challenge.
“I’ve never been away for this amount of time. It’s uncharted territory, but I refuse to rehash what I’ve already done.
“As a performer, I want to leave behind the full spectrum of performance types and match types.
“There’s situations where I’ll be the underdog, and situations where I’m the favorite. I plan on creating something very special in 2022 into 2023.”
Kenny Omega will team with the Young Bucks to take on either Dark Order or Best Friends at AEW All Out in the final of the AEW Trios Championship Tournament to crown the inaugural winners of the titles.
