Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega has commented on the story behind NJPW match with AEW’s Juice Robinson.
In 2017, Kenny Omega defeated Juice Robinson to retain the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Destruction in Kobe.
The match is fondly remembered by fans as the first time Omega used the super One Winged Angel to pick up the win and as a breakout moment for Robinson.
On September 24, Kenny Omega took to social media to comment on the story behind his NJPW match with Juice Robinson. He wrote:
There is a very personal story surrounding this match that I’d love to tell but character count wouldn’t allow for it or do it justice here.
Aside from all that, Juice took me to the absolute limit and this became the first time I had no choice but to use a Super OWA to get the job done. Juice ain’t no joke and he’d eventually solidify himself as a worthy US champ himself after this.
Kenny Omega is currently out of action after his bout with diverticulitis late in 2023, while Juice Robinson is part of the Bang Bang Gang stable with Jay White and The Gunns.
