Kenny Omega is still a double champion. The AAA Mega Champion walked into AAA’s biggest show of the year last night, TripleMania XXVIII, and walked out still the champion.
His challenger was Laredo Kid, who Omega had wrestled previously at Fyter Fest 2019 and TripleMania XXVII both times competing in six-man tag matches. This was the first time they had wrestled a singles match.
Laredo Kid had El Hijo de Vikingo as his second while Omega was backed up by Michael Nakazawa. The match has been praised by critics and it ultimately ended with Omega retaining with the One-Winged Angel.
After the match, Omega did not accept the handshake from Laredo Kid and called out Vikingo in a backstage interview. This likely means Vikingo will be his next challenger.
Omega recently revealed his new character is a championship collector. Having the AAA Mega Championship and the AEW World Championship in his possession, it seems as if Omega shall now turn elsewhere to add more titles to his collection.
Kenny Omega will also be facing Joey Janela in a no disqualification match on AEW Dynamite this week. If Janela defeats Omega, he will earn an AEW World Championship match.
Omega also appeared on last night’s IMPACT Final Resolution pay-per-view, which you can read more about at this link.
