Kenny Omega’s character has seen a pretty big change since losing the AEW World Tag Team Championship at All Out. He has been heelish and much more in-line with his “Cleaner” character from his days in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
One of the more interesting touches to his character has been his entrance. As ominous music plays, Justin Roberts lists off Omega’s many accolades. However, fans had been stumped regarding why Roberts always included a line about North Carolina.
Some theorized that this was teasing a partnership with FTR who are from the state. Alas, Omega has now revealed the meaning of the line and it is a mere joke. During an interaction with Lance Storm on Twitter, Omega revealed that it is a tribute to how the Chicago Bulls would announce Michael Jordan into games.
Hate to share industry secrets but it’s a tribute to the Chicago Bulls and how they treated Michael Jordan making his entrance.

For those who are unaware, Michael Jordan played college basketball at the University of North Carolina.
Kenny Omega recently defeated Hangman Page at Full Gear to become number one contender. He will challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship on the December 2 episode of AEW Dynamite.
