New Japan Pro-Wrestling announcer Kevin Kelly has announced that he will be involved with a brand new wrestling promotion.
Kelly joined WWE in 1996 as a backstage interviewer, before eventually becoming a commentator for WWE Raw during the the Attitude Era.
After leaving WWE in 2003, Kelly became the lead play-by-play announcer for Ring of Honor from 2011 to 2017.
In 2015, Kelly joined the English commentary team for NJPW.
Now it seems the his journey in the wrestling industry will continue, as Kelly announced on his Twitter that he has a stake in an up-and-coming promotion called American eXcellence Wrestling:
“This is what I’ve been dying to share! American eXcellence Wrestling is the first promotion I have a financial stake in and the first event is January 7 at the Historic Hamburg Fieldhouse.”

When asked by a Twitter user whether the promotion would be available to watch via a pay-per-view streaming service such as FiteTV, Kelly responded:
“No the only way to see American eXcellence Wrestling is live in the Historic Hamburg Fieldhouse”
Kelly also said that while he would not be commentating on the event initially, he may be open to stepping into a commentary role down the line.
When another user cheekily pointed out that the initials of the company spelled AEW, Kelly jokingly responded that the X is capitalised to prevent them from being sued.
