WWE star Kevin Owens has admitted that he didn’t enjoy his Universal Championship reign as much as he believes he should have.
Owens was the second ever Universal Champion, following Finn Balor’s 24 hour reign with the gold.
After winning the title in a fiveway bout in August 2016, Owens held the Raw brand’s top title for 188 days before Goldberg defeated him for the championship in under 30 seconds at Fastlane 2017.
Speaking on After the Bell, Owens noted that he has often worried about ‘what’s next’ throughout his WWE career.
Opening up about his title reign, Owens said:
“I used to always want more and more and more. What’s next? What’s next? What’s next? There are so many moments over the past eight years that I didn’t properly enjoy because I was always worried about what was the next thing.”
“When I was Universal Champion, I had this incredible run with Chris Jericho and so many great moments, so many fun moments that people still talk about today. I’m ashamed to say that I really did not enjoy that as much as I should have.
Roman Reigns is currently recognised as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion after unifying the WWE and Universal titles after WrestleMania 38 in April.
WWE has plans for Reigns and Owens to clash over the gold soon, which you can read more about right here.
