Kevin Owens to undergo knee surgery after Lashley attack

It is being reported that Kevin Owens will undergo minor knee surgery and will be off WWE TV for a number of weeks.

Although the injury was not caused by Bobby Lashley’s beat-down on Monday night, it is believed the attack took place in order for Owens to take some time off for the surgery.

John Pollock of PostWrestling noted in his ‘Post-it Notes’, that although the surgery is thought to be minor, there is currently so timetable for his return. Pollock wrote:

“We were informed that last night’s angle involving Bobby Lashley and Kevin Owens was done to explain Owens’ needing time off for knee surgery. It was conveyed to us that Owens is not expected to miss too much time, so it doesn’t appear to be a major injury.

During the match, Lashley attacked Owens’ knee and then repeatedly wrapped it around the post after the match. This also saw Lashley turn heel and had been something that people with the company had been pushing for.

“For his part, Owens was received strongly by the Chicago audience as a babyface and it will be interesting to see how he is booked when he returns and if they opt to turn him or keep him in the heel role.”

He later updated to say that he did not know exactly how long Owens would be off TV for, and that because WWE do not know when he will be back, it could point towards the injury being worse than first thought.

Hopefully when he does return, it won’t be as Bobby Lashley’s punchbag.
