According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Kevin Owens is expected to be cleared “fairly soon” but will not be brought back to television until after WrestleMania.
Owens was written off TV in October in an angle with Bobby Lashley, in which he was turned babyface and Lashley heel in a vicious post-match attack.
Owens then underwent double knee surgery and was expected to be out for several months.
The news is likely a blow to Owens, as it would be to anyone, because nobody wants to miss WrestleMania for obvious reasons. He will also miss out on the show payoff, which is usually fairly lucrative for those involved in top matches,
Owens’ tag partner Sami Zayn has recently returned to training at the Performance Center following his shoulder surgery and is still said to be some time away from returning, so it may be that WWE want to bring the pair back together.
Of course, plans could change and Owens could turn up as a surprise entry in the Royal Rumble but as of right now the earliest we are likely to see him is on the post-WrestleMania episode of Raw.
