Kevin Owens Turns On Kofi Kingston In WWE Smackdown Main Event

Just last week, Kevin Owens joined Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods as an honorary New Day member after Big E had been sidelined with a knee injury. Owens would team with Woods and Kingston to defeat the team of Rusev, Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro.

Tonight, the WWE Champion Kofi Kingston took on Shinsuke Nakamura in the main event of Smackdown. Kofi had Woods and Owens in his corner, whilst Nakamura was flanked by Rusev and Lana. The match ended when Rusev broke up a pinfall, giving Kingston the DQ win.

However, the main talking point came after the match, where Kevin Owens shocking blasted Kofi Kingston with a superkick during a chaotic brawl. Owens would then rip off his New Day shirt and unveil a ‘KO Show’ shirt.

Whilst Kingston showed some fight and Xavier Woods tried to help out his New Day brother, Owens’ power proved to be too much for the duo to handle, and the show ended with Owens powerbombing Xavier Woods onto the ring apron in the true signal that Owens had turned to the dark side.

Owens held up the WWE Championship and said he was coming after it and this angle will be presumably setting up a WWE title match between the pair at the Money In The Bank pay-per-view.

Speaking of Money In The Bank, it was announced on Smackdown that Becky Lynch would be defending her Smackdown Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair, and Roman Reigns would be squaring off against Elias on May, 19.
