The exact date that the current WWE contract of former Universal Champion Kevin Owens is set to expire has now been revealed.
As per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Owens’ contract is up on January 31, 2022, and Fightful Select has also reported that date is accurate.
This comes after Fightful had reported that Owens’ contract was restructured before the pandemic last year, as he had originally signed a five-year deal in 2018.
Kevin Owens has already teased a move to AEW and at this point it would be more surprising if he stayed with WWE.
Fightful’s report adds that this means Owens could be gone from WWE before the next Royal Rumble, since the Rumble is being discussed for February 2022 instead of the usual January.
The Observer also reported that Sami Zayn’s WWE deal is up later this year, but Fightful recently reported it wasn’t up in Fall 2021 as had originally been signed, so that situation remains unclear as of now.
We’ll continue to keep you updated on the statuses of Owens and Zayn if there are any more updates, and any more contract news.
