Killer Kross (fka Karrion Kross) has pitched a “one night only” alliance with recently departed WWE stars Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.
On May 2 it was reported that veteran WWE stars Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods had departed the company, making up two of 31 talent releases from the company’s roster since April 24.
The pair, who had held WWE Tag Team Championship gold 11 times together, were reportedly asked to take a pay cut, which they refused, leading to both stars coming to terms on their exits.
With Kingston and Woods’s first post-WWE booking announced to be GalaxyCon in Oklahoma on May 23, Killer Kross has pitched working with his former WWE foes now that they have joined him on the free agent market.
Responding to a Twitter user, who expressed excitement at the possibility of Woods vs. Kross in the future, Kross instead pitched an alliance with The New Day, albeit with a sinister twist.
Kross wrote:
What about a one night only trios tag team with @TrueKofi & @AustinCreedWins…
The New Doomsday.
Kross was instrumental in planting the seeds of dissension between Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods on WWE TV throughout 2024, with The New Day’s split seemingly being teed for the group’s 10th anniversary on the December 2, 2024 episode of WWE Raw.
Instead however, in what was one of WWE’s most acclaimed TV segments of that year, Woods and Kingston remained aligned and instead turned heel on Big E, who himself returned to television in an attempt to broker peace within the group and offer to be Kingston and Woods’ manager.
While the angle led to Kingston and Woods becoming some of the most despised heels on the WWE roster, their momentum fizzled out as bad guys, with a WWE World Tag Team Title win at WrestleMania 41 doing little to reverse their downward slide.
A New Day Dawning On AEW TV This Summer?
As ever with WWE talent departures, WWE’s loss could be AEW’s gain as several stars let go by the company have already been speculated for an eventual move to Tony Khan’s company.
Given their legendary status and popularity among those they’ve worked with however, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods especially feel like absolute no brainer signings for AEW.
There is reportedly “a lot of excitement” within AEW for the potential arrivals of Woods and Kingston, with Bobby Lashley recently stating that WWE’s “horrible decision” to let New Day go could ultimately be a great thing for “someone else.”
With a tag team division that already hosts veteran teams like The Hurt Syndicate, FTR, The Young Bucks, Cope & Cage and many others, Woods and Kingston would be a major coup and present some truly exciting possibilities for the Summer and beyond.
There’s also Xavier Woods’ added value of his work within the video game scene. While WWE reportedly attempted to sign him to a non-wrestling deal specifically to continue working on his UpUpDownDown YouTube channel, it seems unlikely that he would do so if that deal would restrict him from wrestling for a major promotion such as AEW.
AEW Games’ YouTube channel – which is spearheaded by MxM Collection (Mansoor & Mason Madden), Evil Uno and Woods’ close friend Adam Cole – has a lot of similarities to what Woods built with UpUpDownDown and AEW could capitalise greatly on expanding that channel should New Day sign with the company.
