Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems that we may have seen the last of Kofi Kingston in the WWE title picture for the time being.
Kofi won the hearts of the wrestling world after coming inches away from becoming the new WWE Champion inside the Elimination Chamber in a valiant and emotional effort.
Following this, fans across social media began calling for Kingston to get another shot at the title, either at Fastlane or WrestleMania, but that apparently isn’t the plan.
Speaking on the most recent Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained that the plans for Daniel Bryan’s opponents as of yesterday (February 18), did not include Kofi, and that he understands a returning superstar will be the person to take Bryan on.
He listed a number of names which included Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Bray Wyatt and even John Cena, but admitted that Cena would be unlikely given the lack of build opportunity.
Of course, plans can change and it only took WWE a few years to realise that the fans wanted to see Becky Lynch at the top of the card, so perhaps we’ll see Kofi main event WrestleMania 39.
Do you think Daniel Bryan vs Kofi Kingston is big enough for WrestleMania? Let us know in the comments.
