Kofi Kingston appeared on Fox News this week to discuss how he’s breaking racial barriers in WWE. He also addressed NXT as a 3rd brand for WWE and Smackdown appearing Fox this fall.
“It means the world. Especially, we talk about representation being so important. For me to be the first African born WWE champion is incredible because now people who look like myself can look at TV on WWE Television that anything is possible because I’m doing it.”
Kofi addressed NXT as well:
“A lot of people always say, ‘people down there in NXT’ like it’s a farming system for WWE but they’ve done such a great job over the years making their own brand. Often times you’ll go to a WWE show and fans will be chanting ‘NXT.’ That’s a testament to all the hard work they’ve put in. Now it’s going to pay off, they’re actually going to be on USA, which is so exciting. Because the world will get to see all of this talent on this grand stage, as they deserve to be. I’m really excited about that too because there’s so much talent down there. “
Kofi is such a good ambassador for WWE. He is so natural in this interview. He has really grown from his days as a faking a Jamaican accent.
We’ll see if after this Sunday if he’ll keep getting to make appearances like this one with the WWE Championship.
