Kofi Kingston’s Gauntlet Match To Kick Off SmackDown Live

Kofi Kingston’s Gauntlet Match To Kick Off SmackDown Live

WWE has announced via their official Twitter account that Kofi Kingston’s gauntlet match will be kicking off the upcoming episode of SmackDown Live.

If he manages to overcome Randy Orton, WWE United States Champion Samoa Joe, The Bar (Sheamus & Cesaro), and Rowan, Kingston will go on to WrestleMania 35 and will take on Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship.

As this is opening the show for the blue brand, something tells me it will be the only match on the card and they may even use it to fill the entire show.

That said, there is one other announcement WWE made about Tuesday’s episode. According to WWE, The Miz will also find time to break his silence following Shane McMahon’s super stiff heel turn that took place last Sunday at Fastlane.

On the most recent episode of SmackDown Live, Shane went full-evil and carted out the Best in the World trophy he won at Crown Jewel to remind everyone that he is, in fact, the best wrestler in the world.

Although this has been announced, it won’t be the first segment WWE has planned and advertised only to throw it out. If this is the case, however, it will likely feed into a storyline where WWE officials weren’t expecting Kofi to make it so far and so they have had to cancel other segments.

Whatever the case may be, Kingston is opening the show and, with any luck, he’ll be closing it as well.
