Following the outstanding opening bout at Wrestle Kingdom 13 of Kota Ibushi vs Will Ospreay, in which the England native claimed the NEVER Openweight Championship, Ibushi was strapped to a board and stretchered out of the arena.
It was unclear at the time whether this was for storyline purposes or a legitimate injury, but now some light has been shed on the situation by NJPW themselves on Twitter.
Kota Ibushi suffered a concussion against Ospreay. His condition is not described as serious. More information to come. https://t.co/rKXAOFpVXS

The translated version of the tweet reads that Ibushi suffered a concussion in the match, but his condition was not serious. This should hopefully alleviate any worries some people had regarding the severity of this injury, as it doesn’t seem to warrant a cause for concern for his long-term health.
While this doesn’t necessarily clarify whether this injury is part of an angle or not, it seems more likely that this is legitimate. More information is due to come regarding the injury so hopefully more will become clear in time.
We at WrestleTalk wish Kota Ibushi a speedy recovery and hope to see him performing again as soon as possible.
