In the main event of Wrestle Kingdom night one, Kota Ibushi defeated Tetsuya Naito to become both the IWGP Heavyweight Champion and the IWGP Intercontinental Champion in what was a fantastic match.
The action was, as many people have come to expect from bouts between Ibushi and Naito, hard-hitting and even hard to watch at times. Ibushi was able to pin Naito after reversing the Destino into a Kamigoya.
Jay White will now challenge Kota Ibushi for both titles in the main event of Wrestle Kingdom 15 night two tomorrow night. He confronted Kota Ibushi in the middle of the ring after his victory on tonight’s show.
Jay White earned his title shot after beating Kota Ibushi for the G1 Climax briefcase last year following the tournament. Despite this, Naito decided to grant Ibushi the title shots anyway.
If you didn’t manage to catch the show but want to find out what happened, you can catch up with WrestleTalk’s coverage of the show over on Wrestle2 with Tempest and Sonal Lad.
