Former NJPW IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kota Ibushi has commented on plans for his future in wrestling.
With Ibushi’s NJPW contract set to expire soon, there has been a lot of speculation about the popular star’s next move.
Speaking with Dark Puroresu Flowsion, Ibushi noted that he wants to run his own promotion in the future.
Acknowledging that he would likely receive ‘big offers’ if he was to choose not to re-sign with NJPW, Ibushi said:
“My plan for the future is to have my own promotion and do a lot of volunteering.
“There are really big offers from AEW and all over the world, but I would like to make a contribution, but rather than visiting nursing homes and so on.
“Of course, I am also thinking (about) giving back to professional wrestling. I’m happy! So in 2023, I’m thinking of contributing to the world and giving back to professional wrestling.
“And above all, I want to liven up the world with professional wrestling.”
Ibushi hasn’t wrestled since suffering a shoulder injury during the 2021 G1 Climax tournament finals last October.
The top star recently addressed speculation that he wants to sign a lucrative deal with another wrestling promotion such as AEW.
