Kurt Angle Retirement Match Reportedly In The Works

According to the ever-reliable Twitter account Slice Wrestling, the higher-ups in WWE are reportedly in talks regarding Kurt Angle’s retirement match. Although when and where are not mentioned, it seems like the obvious choice is WrestleMania 35. With that in mind, however, the list of names currently being discussed as opponents do put some doubt on that conclusion.

The names given include John Cena, The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, Triple H, and Rey Mysterio.

As we know, Brock Lesnar is scheduled to face Seth Rollins for the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35 so either it isn’t happening there or Lesnar is less of a possibility and more of a big name thrown around in a boardroom.

As for The Undertaker, his position in the company has been somewhat uncertain as of late although he is still under contract. If the two were to have a match, it would likely be a(nother) retirement match for the ‘Phenom’ as well.

Triple H and Mysterio are exciting prospects with them both having a long-standing history with the former Olympian. Rey, in particular, would almost certainly pull Kurt to the best match.

There is only one man many would like to see opposite Angle in a ring for his final match, however, and that is John Cena. After all, Angle brought Cena and his “ruthless aggression” into the business, it seems only fitting that the two collide again for the Gold Medalist’s farewell match.

Knowing WWE, it’ll definitely Baron Corbin.
