Kurt Angle Says Current WWE Star Gave Him His Best One-Off Match

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has discussed his last pro-wrestling run, and which of his final few matches was his favourite.

Prior to his WrestleMania 35 match with Baron Corbin, Angle had a series of matches on his retirement tour. Angle believes his dream clash with Chad Gable was the best match of the lot.

Speaking on his Kurt Angle Show podcast, Angle was asked “Who did Kurt Angle have a great match with despite not having a full-blown program with one another?”. To the former Olympian, Gable was the obvious answer.

Noting that Gable reminds him a lot of himself, Angle stated that he would’ve loved to work with the underrated competitor more.

Here is the full quote:

“This is a surprising one, but Chad Gable. I had one match with him. I thought the match was my best match since I had returned to WWE, my pre-retirement return. But having a program with him would have been awesome. He reminds me of myself and that’s what I love. That’s why Chris Benoit intrigued me because I felt like I was wrestling myself. I love that. I was comfortable with it.”

Kurt Angle hasn’t returned to the ring since his 2019 retirement. He teased his return shortly before AEW Revolution this year, but nothing materialized.

Chad Gable lost to Dominik and Rey Mysterio, alongside Otis on SmackDown. Otis’ former Heavy Machinery partner Tucker has been very vocal about the team’s split since his WWE release.
