During an interview with Wrestling Inc, WWE Hall of Famer and Kurt Angle said that “something had to have happened” between WWE and his former rival and fellow former WWE Champion, Brock Lensar.
Angle also went on to note that he doesn’t see WWE and Vince McMahon letting Brock Lesnar leave, but also discussed the possibility of him stepping into the Octagon again, or even joining AEW:
“I don’t know. I don’t know what transpired. Something had to have happened because I heard they pulled all this merchandise off the shelves. So it’s not just Brock not having a contract and not knowing where he wants to go. The company, obviously, they’re not going to let him go. Brock’s pretty level headed. He doesn’t get in any trouble. So there’s no reason to fire the kid. He’s a tremendous athlete, a tremendous employee. So I think Brock just got tired of doing it.”
“I don’t know. I don’t know if he wants to fight again. I don’t know if you want to go to another company. I cannot see him going to another company, unless Tony Khan wants to pay him $10-20 million. I don’t know, but you never know, but I think Brock should just end his career in WWE. I mean the way they treat him and the way he gets paid, I don’t know why he’d not want to just stay. It’s really up to him, but I think he wants to fight. I think that’s the reason.”
For those that were living under a rock last week, Brock Lesnar is no longer under WWE contract, after his deal with Vince McMahon’s promotion actually expired after WrestleMania 36 in April.
However, it is believed that this is nothing new, as Brock reportedly normally lets his contract expire after WrestleMania, before negotiating terms for a return when he/WWE is ready. However, this time it is said to be taking longer than normal.
People close to the situation have said that WWE are not worried about Brock moving to AEW, and it is believe that he will be offered a massive contract by WWE when they have something planned for him on TV.
Speaking of Brock Lesnar, it has actually been reported that “The Beast” is being spoken about for a potential match with a former rival next year at WrestleMania 37. You can read more about that by clicking here.
